Create your website from a Google Maps business listing

Import available business details, check reviews and opening hours, and add the information Google Maps cannot supply.

Your listing. Your website. A glossy blue location pin beside a business website preview.

A Google Maps business link can save you from retyping your business name, phone number, address and available opening hours. It gives Website Generator Hub a starting point for your roofing or HVAC website. You still supply a business email, and you should check the finished page before publishing it.

The important distinction is between importing information and connecting a live feed. This workflow brings available listing information into a website project. It does not promise every field shown in the Google Maps app, and editing your website does not update your Google Business Profile.

Start with the right listing

  1. Open Google Maps and search for your business name and town.
  2. Open the individual business listing. Check its address and phone number, especially if another company has a similar name.
  3. Use the listing's Share option and copy its link. A link to search results, driving directions or an unlabelled map pin is not a reliable substitute.
  4. Open your industry in Website Generator Hub and choose Use a Google Maps link, where available.
  5. Paste the link and enter the business email that should receive website enquiries. Add your own logo if you have one.
  6. Complete the security check and continue to the website preview.

For a business with multiple branches, use the listing for the branch this website represents. Do not combine one branch's address with another branch's reviews and phone number. If you need a multi-location website, describe that requirement in a custom website enquiry.

Know what can arrive automatically

The importer requests specific listing fields. The result depends on what the provider returns for that business, rather than how much information appears on your screen in Google Maps.

Information What to expect What you should check
Business name and phone Imported when returned Correct branch and a working contact number
Address and location Available listing address and location Whether the address is appropriate to publish
Opening hours Typical hours, with current exceptions recorded separately Office hours versus emergency call availability
Reviews Up to five available reviews, retaining source details Author, wording, rating and business identity
Description An available Google summary, not a guaranteed owner-written description Your actual roofing or HVAC specialisms
Email and logo Supply these yourself An inbox you monitor and your own logo file

Google's Places resource documentation describes a maximum of five reviews, selected by relevance. Website Generator Hub also skips entries without an author or valid rating. A Google listing with hundreds of reviews will therefore not produce hundreds of review cards.

Get opening hours right without a long timetable

Check the existing contact or footer hours slot rather than expecting an extra timetable section. Matching consecutive days can be grouped, such as Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm. Up to two schedule groups fit the compact display; more variation produces Hours vary by day, with the listing link where available. This example is a format, not a suggested schedule.

A roofing office that answers routine enquiries during the day may also have an emergency phone service. Those are different promises. Do not change the whole business to “Open 24 hours” unless that accurately describes the service visitors can receive.

Check both a normal weekday and any upcoming holiday. Google distinguishes regular hours from temporary exceptions; its special-hours guide explains how to maintain exceptions without replacing the usual schedule. If the source listing is wrong, correct it there as well as checking the website copy.

Add the details a listing cannot explain

A short description is useful even when it is optional. Tell visitors what you actually do: pitched-roof repairs and slate replacement, for example, or heat-pump servicing and air-conditioning installation. Avoid broad claims such as “we do everything” when customers need to know whether you handle their particular problem.

Supply your own logo through the upload field. The current Maps importer does not retrieve a business logo or import a photo library. A category symbol or a reviewer's photograph is not your company logo. Use photographs you have permission to publish, and inspect their crops in both desktop and mobile previews.

A business email must also be entered separately. Choose the mailbox where someone will notice a new enquiry. Importing a phone number successfully does not verify email delivery; that check happens on the final hosted website.

If the link cannot identify your business

The message “This link matches more than one business” means the importer could not confidently choose one listing. It is better to stop than attach a different company's information to your website.

Return to Maps, open the exact business panel and copy its Share link again. Where the short link still fails, try the full business-listing URL from the address bar. Avoid a URL that only contains a search phrase, directions or coordinates. Do not repeatedly submit the same ambiguous link hoping the result will change.

If lookup is temporarily unavailable, choose manual details and continue. You can still create a complete website through the roofing collection or HVAC collection. The Maps route is a convenience, not a requirement for using either collection.

Review the imported page before sharing it

Read the contact block aloud: business name, phone, email, address and hours. Then follow View on Google Maps and confirm it opens the intended listing. Check that reviews still belong to this business and retain their source information. Where no usable reviews were returned, use a link to the real listing or add genuine feedback you have permission to publish.

Read every service description and remove unsupported credentials, guarantees, review claims or emergency promises. For a service business without a customer-facing office, do not add a home address merely to fill a design space.

Google's Business Profile editing guide covers changes to the source profile. Website changes remain separate. Once the preview is accurate, follow Edit and check your website and keep the same confirmed contact details across your website and public business profiles.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my Google Maps link match more than one business?

The link may represent search results, a location or an ambiguous business name. Open the exact listing, check its address and copy its Share link. If necessary, try its full listing URL. Manual details remain available when a listing cannot be identified reliably.

Why were only a few of my Google reviews imported?

The current import accepts up to five reviews returned for the place. It does not import your entire review history or filter for five-star ratings. Entries missing an author or valid rating are omitted. Keep a link to the original listing so visitors can read more.

Why are the holiday opening hours different from the normal week?

The importer keeps normal hours separate from current exceptions. Review the compact hours in your contact section and confirm upcoming holiday arrangements. Correct the Google profile separately if its source schedule is wrong; do not turn a temporary closure into a permanent weekly change.

Will my Google Maps description and logo appear automatically?

Not necessarily. The importer uses an available listing summary but does not guarantee the full description you entered in your profile. It does not fetch a logo. Add your own logo and review the description so the website accurately explains the services you provide.

Do I need to enter an email address when I use a Maps link?

Yes. Supply the business email for website enquiries. The current listing import does not provide it. Use an inbox you can access, check the address for typing errors, and verify an enquiry arrives after your downloaded website is configured on hosting.

Will later changes to Google Maps update my website automatically?

Treat the imported information as a saved starting point, not a live synchronisation service. Check your website after changes to your phone, address or hours. Editing the website also does not change the Google listing. Maintain both places when your business details change.
